Kaapo Kakko broke a third-period tie, and the Seattle Kraken edged the Vegas Golden Knights 3-2 on Saturday night, handing Vegas another loss and extending Seattle’s hot stretch.
Kakko netted the decisive goal 3:18 into the final period, finishing off a rebound from Adam Larsson with a backhand past Akira Schmid. The goal capped Seattle’s fourth straight win and marked the Kraken’s fifth victory in their last six games.
Eeli Tolvanen and Jared McCann built an early cushion for Seattle with first-period goals, while Joey Daccord turned aside 27 shots. Chandler Stephenson chipped in with two assists.
Vegas answered in the second period as Ivan Barbashev and Mitch Marner both scored to even the game at 2-2. Jack Eichel contributed two assists, and Schmid finished with 20 saves, but the Golden Knights couldn’t generate a response after Kakko’s go-ahead tally. Vegas has now dropped four straight games and six of its past seven.
Tolvanen opened the scoring at 6:50 of the first, and McCann doubled the lead on the power play at 13:04, notching his 200th career goal. Barbashev cut the deficit midway through the second before Marner tied it with a power-play wrist shot in the final seconds of the period.
