William Karlsson netted two goals, Pavel Dorofeyev tallied his NHL-leading sixth, and Jack Eichel became the first player this season to reach 10 points as the Vegas Golden Knights held off a late surge to defeat the Boston Bruins 6-5 on Thursday night.

Mark Stone led the way with three assists, extending his point streak to five games. Cole Reinhardt and Tomas Hertl also scored for Vegas, with Hertl’s power-play goal snapping Boston’s streak of 14 consecutive penalty kills to start the season. Karlsson struck once short-handed and once on the power play, showcasing his versatility. Akira Schmid stopped 19 shots in the net.

Dorofeyev, who also recorded an assist, now shares the league lead in goals with Ottawa’s Shane Pinto. Eichel extended his five-game point streak, scoring his fifth goal and adding an assist. Mitch Marner contributed two assists as well.

For Boston, Tanner Jeannot, Nikita Zadorov, David Pastrnak, Mark Kastelic, and Michael Eyssimont each found the back of the net. Jeremy Swayman faced heavy pressure, finishing with 31 saves in the loss.

The Golden Knights appeared to have the game in hand with a 6-3 lead early in the third period before the Bruins rallied with two goals just 67 seconds apart from Kastelic and Eyssimont, cutting the deficit to one. Vegas managed to hang on, improving to 4-0-1 and earning at least one point in all five games to start the season.

There was a brief injury scare late in the second period when Eichel took a puck off his skate and headed to the bench. He remained there for the rest of the period but returned for the third.

The crowd at T-Mobile Arena erupted during the second intermission when members of the Las Vegas Aces — A’ja Wilson, Chelsea Gray, and Jewell Loyd — were shown celebrating their third WNBA championship in four years.
