Ilya Samsonov recorded 31 saves for his third shutout of the season, and Brett Howden scored his team-leading 15th goal as the Vegas Golden Knights defeated the Calgary Flames 3-0 on Sunday night.

Howden tipped in Alex Pietrangelo’s shot from the slot late in the second period, marking his fourth goal in five games. He is now tied with Ivan Barbashev for the team lead in goals.

Victor Olofsson and Tanner Pearson added third-period goals for Vegas, with Pearson also assisting on Howden’s tally to reach 300 career points.

Dan Vladar made 34 saves for Calgary, which has now been shut out twice by Vegas this season. The Flames previously lost 5-0 to the Golden Knights on Oct. 28.

Vegas extended its win streak to six games—the longest active streak in the NHL—and improved to 25-8-3 on the season, including an impressive 13-2-1 record against Pacific Division teams. Calgary fell to 17-12-7 and 4-4-1 in divisional matchups.

Takeaways

Flames: Calgary struggled to find momentum in the second game of a back-to-back following Saturday’s 3-1 victory over San Jose. They are now 1-3-0 in the second game of back-to-back sets this season.

Golden Knights: Vegas continued its dominance in the third period, scoring twice to secure the win. The Golden Knights lead the league with a plus-30 goal differential in the final frame.
