Braeden Bowman continued his impressive rookie surge, scoring another power-play goal as the Vegas Golden Knights held off the New York Rangers 3–2 on Tuesday night at T-Mobile Arena.

Ben Hutton and Shea Theodore also scored for Vegas, and Akira Schmid made 17 saves as the Golden Knights improved to 2-0-1 over their last three games following a rough 0-2-2 stretch.

Vegas’ power play, once stuck in a 3-for-34 slump, has come alive — the team has five power-play goals in the last three games, including two in this victory.

The Rangers got goals from Jonny Brodzinski and Vincent Trocheck. Still, a potential tying goal by Brodzinski early in the third was overturned on video review after coach Bruce Cassidy successfully challenged the play for offside on Mika Zibanejad.

Trocheck narrowed the deficit to one with a deflection during a 6-on-5 push with 2:43 remaining, but Vegas held on. Igor Shesterkin stopped 23 shots for New York.

Bowman, appearing in just his fourth NHL game, notched his second power-play goal in four nights. After setting up Mitch Marner for a shot from the slot, Bowman jumped on the rebound and hammered home the opener midway through the first.

Hutton doubled the lead early in the second with his first goal in more than 600 days, beating Shesterkin from the left circle.

Brodzinski brought New York within one by burying a rebound off a 2-on-1 rush later in the period.

Theodore restored the two-goal cushion with the eventual game-winner midway through the third — a poignant tally on Hockey Fights Cancer Night, honoring his own recovery following testicular cancer surgery in 2019.
