Adam Edstrom tipped in Jonny Brodzinski’s shot off the rush at 5:57 of the third period, lifting the New York Rangers to a 2-1 win over the Vegas Golden Knights on Saturday night.
The Rangers have gone 4-1-1 since enduring a rough four-game stretch in which they were outscored 19-6. Following Thursday’s 3-2 overtime win against New Jersey, New York has secured back-to-back victories for the first time since a three-game streak in mid-November.
Vegas, coming off a 4-0 loss to the New York Islanders on Thursday, dropped consecutive games for the first time since November.
Vincent Trocheck scored on the power play for New York, and Igor Shesterkin made 29 saves in another standout performance.
Mark Stone also netted the lone goal for Vegas on the power play, while Ilya Samsonov turned aside 24 shots.
The Golden Knights welcomed back Ivan Barbashev, who returned after missing 10 games with an upper-body injury. Despite his absence, Barbashev remains tied with Brett Howden for the team lead in goals (15). Barbashev wasted no time making an impact, firing a shot on goal just 17 seconds into the game.
