Mark Stone, Nicolas Hague, and Pavel Dorofeyev scored in a commanding second period as the Vegas Golden Knights defeated the Philadelphia Flyers 5-2 on Thursday night.
Alexander Holtz and Tanner Pearson also scored for the Golden Knights, now winning 11 of their last 13 games. Ilya Samsonov made 23 saves for Vegas.
Tyson Foerster and Travis Konecny scored for Philadelphia, which has lost six of its last nine games. Rookie goaltender Aleksei Kolosov stopped 22 shots but struggled during a three-goal second period for Vegas.
Stone tied the game 1-1 just 51 seconds into the second period with a deflection off a Jack Eichel pass. Hague followed quickly, circling behind the net for a wraparound goal less than 90 seconds later. Dorofeyev capped the dominant period with his 14th goal of the season, scoring with 1:39 left to make it 3-1.
Holtz extended Vegas’ lead early in the third period, but Konecny responded that Philadelphia should cut the deficit to 4-2. Pearson sealed the victory with an empty-net goal in the final 36 seconds.
