Bryan Rust, Ben Kindel, and Justin Brazeau each recorded a goal and an assist as the Pittsburgh Penguins shut out the Vegas Golden Knights 5-0 on Sunday.
Rickard Rakell and Egor Chinakhov also scored for Pittsburgh, which has been on a strong run, going 10-1-3 over its last 14 games. Defenseman Erik Karlsson added two assists, while goaltender Arturs Silovs made 22 saves to record his first shutout since the season opener on Oct. 7 against the New York Rangers.
Vegas netminder Adin Hill stopped 17 shots in the loss as the Golden Knights fell to 4-7-2 over their last 13 games.
The Golden Knights also suffered a potential setback when captain Mark Stone left late in the first period with an undisclosed injury. The incident occurred after Penguins defenseman Kris Letang gave Stone a shove with his stick in the neutral zone, possibly striking the area between his elbow and shoulder pads. Stone appeared in discomfort, dropped briefly to one knee, and then headed to the locker room.
Kindel, the Penguins’ first-round pick in the 2025 NHL Draft who turns 19 in April, opened the scoring with his 15th goal of the season with just over five minutes remaining in the first period.
Pittsburgh took firm control in the second period, adding three more goals. Rust and Rakell both capitalized on the power play to extend the lead.
Brazeau capped the scoring late in the third period with his 16th goal of the season, a new career high.
