Jake Sanderson posted a three-point night and Shane Pinto delivered the decisive shootout goal as the Ottawa Senators edged the Vegas Golden Knights 4–3 on Wednesday, earning a rare win at T-Mobile Arena.

Vegas had historically dominated the matchup, winning six of seven home meetings and entering the night with a 12-1-1 all-time record against Ottawa. The Senators’ only previous road win in Vegas came in March 2018.

The Golden Knights, however, continued their overtime struggles, falling to 1–8 in games decided past regulation. Though Vegas has earned points in seven of its past eight games, four have ended in overtime defeats.

Pinto and Drake Batherson scored in regulation for Ottawa, while Sanderson added a goal and two assists. Tim Stützle and Claude Giroux each contributed two assists, with Stützle extending his streak to at least one point in all five games he’s played in Vegas. Linus Ullmark stopped 32 shots in the win.

Vegas captain Mark Stone, returning from a month-long absence due to a wrist injury, tied the game with a third-period power-play goal. Jack Eichel had a goal and an assist, and Brett Howden also scored. Akira Schmid made 20 saves for the Golden Knights.

Ottawa built a 3–1 lead in the first period, but Vegas battled back, striking once in the second and again in the third to force overtime.

After a scoreless OT, the first four shootout attempts were unsuccessful — including Eichel’s, which remained no-goal after video review. Pinto finally broke through for Ottawa, and Ullmark sealed the win by stopping Mitch Marner.

The game marked the 100th NHL appearance for Vegas defenseman Kaedan Korczak.
