Kirill Kaprizov hammered home a one-timer on an overtime power play, lifting the Minnesota Wild to a 3–2 victory over the Vegas Golden Knights on Sunday night.
The winning goal came at 4:50 of OT after Vegas defenseman Shea Theodore was called for hooking Matt Boldy near center ice — a penalty that drew visible frustration from Golden Knights coach Bruce Cassidy. On the ensuing man advantage, Kaprizov buried a setup from Mats Zuccarello between the pads of goaltender Carl Lindbom for his 11th of the season.
Joel Eriksson Ek and Yakov Trenin also scored for Minnesota, which has now won four of its last five games. Filip Gustavsson made 23 saves, following up Saturday’s shutout by backup Jesper Wallstedt.
Vegas got both of its goals on the power play. Pavel Dorofeyev struck late in the first period, and Reilly Smith tied the game 2–2 midway through the third with a wrist shot from the left circle. Lindbom finished with 24 saves in the loss.
The Golden Knights had snapped a four-game skid the previous night with a 4–1 win in St. Louis.
Eriksson Ek opened the scoring just 4:49 into the game with a quick shot past an out-of-position Lindbom. After Dorofeyev tied it on a rebound, Trenin reclaimed the lead for Minnesota at 9:05 of the second when his centering attempt slipped through Lindbom — his first goal of the season.
