Jacob Trouba scored with 32 seconds left in overtime, and Leo Carlsson notched his first two-goal game of the season as the Anaheim Ducks outlasted the Vegas Golden Knights 4-3 on Saturday night at T-Mobile Arena.
With the win, Anaheim extended its winning streak to six games and improved to 8-1-0 in its last nine, climbing atop the Pacific Division with 21 points.
Carlsson, who continues to shine as the Ducks’ offensive leader, now has 22 points and a nine-game point streak (six goals, 11 assists). He also assisted on the overtime winner, setting up Trouba’s decisive shot that slipped between Akira Schmid’s pads.
Frank Vatrano also scored, and defenseman Olen Zellweger recorded two assists for Anaheim. Goaltender Petr Mrazek, in his 400th career NHL start, made 36 saves to secure the victory.
For Vegas, Brett Howden, Pavel Dorofeyev, and Kaedan Korczak each found the back of the net, while Schmid stopped 25 shots. The Golden Knights, however, have just one regulation win in their past four games.
Vegas center William Karlsson left the game after the first period with a lower-body injury and did not return. Head coach Bruce Cassidy said the team expects to have more clarity after further evaluation on Monday, noting Karlsson is considered day-to-day.
After falling behind 2-1 through two periods on Carlsson’s pair of goals, Vegas rallied in the third. Dorofeyev tied the game on a power play at 14:53, finishing a crisp setup from Ivan Barbashev and Mitch Marner. Less than two minutes later, Korczak buried a wrist shot to pull Vegas even again at 3-3.
The Golden Knights controlled much of the overtime, generating several high-danger chances, but it was Anaheim’s Trouba who capitalized — threading the puck through Schmid’s legs for the game-winner.
