Leon Draisaitl netted his league-leading 52nd goal of the season during a 5-on-3 power play, helping lift the Edmonton Oilers to a 3-2 win over the Vegas Golden Knights on Tuesday night. Despite the loss, Vegas clinched a spot in the Stanley Cup Playoffs thanks to Calgary’s 3-1 defeat to the Utah Hockey Club.

The loss ended the Golden Knights’ six-game winning streak, and they remain atop the Pacific Division. Edmonton, meanwhile, kept its faint division title hopes alive, moving within seven points of Vegas with eight games remaining for both teams.

Draisaitl’s milestone goal — the 399th of his NHL career — was met with “MVP” chants from Oilers fans in attendance. Jake Walman and Viktor Arvidsson also scored for Edmonton, while Evan Bouchard contributed two assists, and Calvin Pickard made 20 saves.

Pavel Dorofeyev scored his team-leading 32nd goal, and Nicolas Roy added one for Vegas. Adin Hill stopped 17 shots. Jack Eichel’s point streak came to an end at six games (six goals, seven assists).
