Tomas Hertl recorded his second hat trick of the month to lead the Vegas Golden Knights past the Detroit Red Wings 6-3 on Saturday night.
Hertl, who also had a three-goal game on March 9, powered a potent Vegas attack that included a four-point night from Jack Eichel, who tallied one goal and three assists. Nicolas Roy and Mark Stone also scored, and Adin Hill made 28 saves to help Vegas extend its dominance at home.
Detroit scored goals from Lucas Raymond, Patrick Kane, and Alex DeBrincat, and Cam Talbot stopped 30 shots in the net.
After Raymond gave the Red Wings an early lead with a power-play goal at 4:47 of the first, Hertl responded with two goals quickly. His first came on the power play, redirecting a pass from Stone with 8:13 left. He added another tip-in with 3:28 remaining to make it 2-1.
Vegas briefly had a third goal erased due to an offside review late in the period, but Roy scored with just three seconds left before intermission to restore the two-goal lead.
Hertl completed the hat trick at 8:02 of the second period with another power-play marker, putting Vegas up 4-2. Eichel and Stone followed with goals to seal the win.
