Jack Eichel scored the decisive goal in the shootout as the Vegas Golden Knights returned from a three-goal deficit to defeat the Philadelphia Flyers 5-4 on Monday night.

Ilya Samsonov, who made 32 saves during regulation and overtime, stopped all three Flyers’ shootout attempts to secure the win.

Eichel also scored in the second period, with Ivan Barbashev, Pavel Dorofeyev, and Tanner Pearson adding goals for Vegas, which extended its win streak to three games.

Philadelphia saw rookie Matvei Michkov continue his stellar season with his NHL-leading eighth goal among rookies, along with an assist. Emil Andrae notched his first NHL goal, while Morgan Frost and Sean Couturier scored for the Flyers. Ivan Fedotov made 26 saves but couldn’t prevent Philadelphia from dropping its third game in four outings.

Takeaways

Golden Knights: Defenseman Noah Hanifin struggled defensively, being on the ice for all four Flyers goals. However, Samsonov’s resilience in net helped keep Vegas in the game.

Flyers: Morgan Frost had a solid outing with a goal and an assist, marking his second multipoint game this season. Despite the strong start, the Flyers couldn’t capitalize on opportunities late in the game.

Key Moment

Morgan Frost had a chance to give Philadelphia the win on a power play late in the third period but missed an open net from close range. Vegas killed off another Flyers power play in overtime and rode Eichel’s shootout winner to victory.

Key Stat

After allowing four goals on the first 14 shots, Samsonov bounced back to stop the next 25 attempts, including three critical saves in the shootout. He made a sprawling glove save on Travis Sanheim in overtime to keep the game tied.
