Tomas Hertl led the charge with two goals and two assists, helping the Vegas Golden Knights cruise to a 6-1 victory over the Los Angeles Kings on Tuesday night.

The win ended Vegas’ three-game losing streak during a recent road trip. The Golden Knights maintained their perfect home record for the season.

Mark Stone, Pavel Dorofeyev, Alexander Holtz, and Ivan Barbashev also found the back of the net for Vegas, while goaltender Ilya Samsonov made 31 saves.

Warren Foegele scored the lone goal for the Kings, who have been on an extended road trip, playing their seventh straight game away from home to start the season. David Rittich recorded 24 saves for Los Angeles.

Takeaways

Kings: Trevor Moore, who had six takeaways in the first six games, entered the game tied for the most takeaways in the Western Conference. However, he couldn’t record any steals against the Golden Knights.

Golden Knights: Alexander Holtz, who had a minus-3 plus-minus rating coming into the game, scored his first goal with Vegas. Holtz, along with goaltender Akira Schmid, was acquired from New Jersey in June in exchange for forward Paul Cotter.

Key Moment

During a six-minute stretch in the first period, the Golden Knights took control with a three-goal surge, including two power-play goals. Hertl opened the scoring, followed by Stone’s goal, and Dorofeyev capped the dominant stretch, giving Vegas a commanding 3-0 lead early on.

Key Stat

Hertl matched his career-high with four points in the game, a milestone he’s reached three other times. This was the 12-year veteran’s first four-point game since January 17, 2022, when he had four assists in a 6-2 win for San Jose over the Kings.

Up Next

The Golden Knights continue their four-game homestand on Friday, hosting the Ottawa Senators, while the Kings return home to face the San Jose Sharks on Thursday for their home opener.
